GROUPS PROGRAM
1. Group – Preservation of Local Varieties: They will focus on the preservation of the gene pool of fruit trees and traditional fruit growing in the region. They will learn about cultivating less-known fruit species and gain new skills in grafting and tree pruning.
2. Group – The Importance of Bees for Our Country and Our Lives: Students will focus on learning about the life of bees, the importance of pollinators, and familiarize themselves with beekeeping and life in beehives.
3. Group – Biodiversity and Its Impact on Humans: Students will explore the diversity of the gene pool and its use from the perspective of phytotherapy, as well as issues related to invasive plant species through practical and field exercises. They take an excursion to the gene bank in Piešťany.
4. Group – Water Retention in Cities and Landscapes: Students will focus on water retention measures in both rural and urban environments. They will create landscape models with different types of vegetation cover.
5. Group – Ecological Flower Cultivation – Flower Farm: Students will focus on growing local flowers to reduce the carbon footprint associated with the import of exotic plants. During practical exercises, they will create a planting plan, suggest an appropriate selection of flowers, and design a local and compostable table arrangement. They will also learn about edible flowers.
During the closing ceremony students will present the results of the group work.
The students will also present cultural programmes promoting their country, region and school.
